About Dental Assisting Preparatory Academy
Dental Assisting Preparatory Academy is located in the Steele Creek community of Charlotte, North Carolina conveniently serving surrounding areas. Our in-person instruction takes place in the state-of-the-art premises of Horizon Dental, a working dental practice, which gives our students a unique hands-on learning experience.
The academy was founded due to a high demand for qualified, skilled entry-level dental assistants. Our intention is to provide an elite curriculum that will give you the tools you need to be successful from day one. The dental field is counting on your success and we look forward to supporting you as you transition from student to colleague.

What is a Dental Assistant?
The Dental Assistant is a vital part of the dental team. You can expect to play a big role in the office with skills varying from:
- Reception and scheduling
- Executing sanitation and sterilization
- Capturing X-rays
- Taking impressions
- Assisting dentists and hygienists during various dental procedures and surgeries
A good Dental Assistant is a servant at heart and contributes to the function of the office as well as the comfort and care of their patients.

Our Course
The Dental Assisting Course will prepare you for a new career in 13 weeks. We offer online lectures and require only 4 hours per week attendance for clinical lab instruction scheduled on nights and weekends. You will complete a 40 hour externship in a working dental office before graduation giving you priceless real world experience.
The faculty at D.A.P.A. are current working professionals in the dental field with the interest of giving you practical information to make you a successful dental assistant.
Dental Assisting Preparatory Academy’s programs are approved and licensed by North Carolina Dental Board as well as North Carolina Community Colleges.
